Iranian Border Guards Drive Away Terrorists in Southeast Region
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian border guards in the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan fended off an attack from a terrorist group that fled into Pakistani after a gunfight, an official said.
An armed team of the so-called ‘Jaish-ul-Adl’ terrorist group attacked an Iranian border post in Sistan and Balouchestan on Wednesday, Mohammad Hadi Mara’shi, a deputy governor of the province told Tasnim.
Border guards serving in the ‘Border Regiment of Jakigour’ foiled the attack in an armed clash that took 40 minutes, and forced the attackers to flee into Pakistan, he added.
Armed clashes along the border areas of Sistan and Balouchestan, which neighbors Pakistan, are not rare.
The Iranian Police forces are often engaged in battles against drug-traffickers and terrorists in the region.
