Real Madrid Welcomes Palestinian Girl Tamimi to the Bernabeu
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamimi was welcomed to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu by Real Madrid football club on Friday after spending eight months in prison for slapping an Israeli soldier in December 2017.
Tamimi became a globally recognizable figure of Palestine when a video of her and her mother in an altercation with a soldier went viral, originally on Facebook.
A military court sentenced both Ahed and her mother to eight months in prison for the slapping and pushing soldiers, Marca.com reported.
Along with her family, the teenager has been spending time in Spain this week and has taken part in several political and social events and Emilio Butragueno received her at the Bernabeu, handing over a shirt with her name and the No.9 printed on the back.
