Iran Raps Bibi’s Trip to Oman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry denounced Israeli prime minister’s visit to Oman as part of plots to create rift among Islamic countries.

In comments on Friday evening, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent visit to the sultanate of Oman was an effort to cover up his regime’s decades-long policy of occupation and massacre of Palestinians.

“Indubitably, the Zionist regime seeks to sow discord among Muslim countries and cover up 70 years of usurpation and aggression and killing of innocent Palestinian people,” the spokesman said.

“In our point of view, Islamic countries in the region should not, under White House pressure, give the usurper Zionist regime room for maneuvering to create new predicaments and problems in the region,” the Foreign Ministry’s website quoted Qassemi as saying.

“It seems that since the beginning of the presidency of Mr. Trump, Zionist lobby groups at the White House and within the US government have been more active than ever before in order to serve the illegitimate interests of the Zionist regime and put pressure on Islamic countries to normalize their relations with the usurpers of Muslims’ first Qibla (al-Quds),” he underscored.

“History shows that submission and capitulating to the illegitimate demands of the United States and the usurper Zionist regime will further embolden them to exert more pressure, advance further into the region and ignore the inalienable and legitimate rights of the Palestinian nation,” the spokesperson concluded.

His comments came after Netanyahu made an unannounced trip to Oman. The Israeli premier and his entourage reportedly flew to Oman on Thursday and returned to Tel Aviv on Friday.

Netanyahu's office said in a statement on Friday that the visit came at the invitation of Sultan Qaboos and followed "lengthy contacts” between the two sides.
