Iran’s Zarif Due in Turkey’s Antalya for D-8 Ministerial Meeting


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif plans to make a trip to the Turkish resort city of Antalya on Friday to attend a ministerial meeting of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, also known as Developing-8.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Zarif plans to leave Tehran for Antalya on Friday to participate in the D-8 Council of Ministers’ meeting, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said.

The D-8 is an organization for the development of cooperation among the following countries: Iran, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.

The objectives of the D-8 are to improve member states’ position in the global economy, diversify and create new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at international level, and improve standards of living.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8) is a forum with no adverse impact on bilateral and multilateral commitments of the member countries, emanating from their membership to other international or regional organizations, according to its official website.
