Iran Didn’t Give Yemen Time to Breathe: Carlos Queiroz

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national football team coach Carlos Queiroz says his players scored early goals and didn’t give Yemen time to breathe.

An eye-catching display from start to finish saw Team Melli beat Yemen 5-0 on Monday at its AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 opener.

"Fortunately for us the first goal came early and when you score early, it gives you the confidence and tranquility to control the game," said Queiroz.

"We didn't give Yemen time to breathe and I congratulate my players for this win," he added.

Iraq take on Vietnam in the other Group D game on Tuesday.

Iran will now seek to build on its victory when it faces Vietnam at Abu Dhabi’s Al Nahyan Stadium on Saturday, with Yemen set to face Iraq in Sharjah on the same day.
