Iran’s Foreign Minister Meets Counterparts in India


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif held meetings with his foreign counterparts on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue multilateral conference in India.

Zarif, who has traveled to New Delhi for a three-day visit, has joined a host of diplomats, scholars and political figures for the Raisina Dialogue gathering.

On Wednesday, the top Iranian diplomat held a meeting with Minister of External Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj.

In the meeting, the two ministers discussed the relations between Iran and India in various fields, such as economy and banking, petrochemical industry, oil and energy, and transportation.

Zarif and Swaraj also discussed regional and international issues, including the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and the situation in Afghanistan.

In a separate meeting, Zarif held talks with Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Josep Borrell on Tehran-Madrid ties and other issues of mutual interest.

The top Iranian diplomat is also expected to have a meeting with Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Marise Ann Payne.

Heading a business and diplomatic delegation, Zarif arrived in India on Monday.
