Yemeni Snipers Inflict Losses on Saudi Troops in Jizan
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least 14 Saudi troops have been killed in the past few days after Yemeni snipers launched retaliatory attacks against them in the kingdom’s southwestern border region of Jizan, a report said.
The Yemeni army's sniper unit, supported by fighters from Popular Committees, have over the past few days inflicted heavy losses on the Saudis in the Jizan front, it said.
Video footage released on Saturday by the military media of the Yemeni army showed the moment when the Saudi-backed militants and troops were killed and injured in the attacks that targeted several sites of the southern border front of Jizan.
Since Tuesday, at least fourteen Saudi soldiers and militants have been gunned down in the attacks.
The attacks against the Saudi-led forces come in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians and destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure by the coalition led by Riyadh.
Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for nearly four years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
The Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights announced in a statement on March 25 that the war had left 600,000 civilians dead and injured until then. The war and the accompanying blockade have also caused famine across Yemen.
