Protesters Clash with Police in Paris, as 'Yellow Vests' Join CGT Demonstrations (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Protesters and police clash on the Place de la Concorde in central Paris, as hundreds of 'yellow vests' join CGT union protesters to demonstrate against President Emmanuel Macron's policies.

Thousands took to the streets in Paris on Tuesday, as part of a mass trade union strike organized by France’s largest trade union confederation, the General Confederation of Labor (CGT).

Protesters donning yellow vests were also seen in large numbers at the protest. French National Assembly Member for the Left-wing La France Insoumise Eric Coquerel commented on the potential overlap of interests between Yellow Vest protesters and trade unionists.

The trade unions are reportedly protesting over what they describe as the dwindling buying power of average people in the country, and calling for what they call a fairer taxation system.
