Iran’s Women’s Football Team to Participate at Hero Gold Cup


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s national women’s football team will take part at the first ever Hero Gold Cup in India.

Maryam Azmoun’s team will face host India in its first match.

“The four-team tournament will help us prepare for the upcoming competitions. We can know our weak and strong points in the event.

The first ever Hero Gold Cup takes center stage in Odisha, India as Iran will meet India, Myanmar and Nepal in head-to-head women’s football.

The tournament is organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to help promote women’s football.

Myanmar is the highest ranked team in the tournament with a FIFA ranking of 44, while Iran is ranked 60th and India is 62. Nepal is the lowest-ranked team.

The matches will be played at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha and the tournament will run from February 9 to 15.

The round-robin format means that two teams will end up progressing to the eventual final to be played on February 15.
