Iranian Official Warns of ‘Camouflaged Threats’

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization warned of the rise of camouflaged threats resulting from the nature of modern technologies.

In comments at a conference on Sunday, Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali said the complex relation between technology and threats has confused many decision makers.

Highlighting the synthetic nature of technologies in the present era, the commander said such complexity has given birth to camouflaged threats.

“The modern technologies cause a combination of threats and opportunities, therefore, distinguishing threats and opportunities is itself a scientific job,” he added.

“We must reduce or control the impacts of threats on our assets with technology and science,” Jalali stated, hailing Iranian universities’ move to focus on civil defense in a scientific way.

In comments in October 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei highlighted the important role of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization in countering enemies’ threats and urged all military and non-military sectors to closely cooperate with the organization.

The Leader stressed the need for Iranian officials in all sectors to pay heed to the importance of civil defense, saying if they fail to understand the importance of this issue and the civil defense does not develop properly, the country will be exposed to threats with irrecoverable effects.
