Pakistani Minister Due in Iran to Deliver Message from Imran Khan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Pakistan’s Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed is going to meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a visit to Tehran to relay a message from Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.

The Pakistani railway minister will arrive in Tehran on Tuesday for a three-day official visit, ARY News reported.

Sheikh Rasheed will reportedly hold a meeting with Iran’s president to convey a special message from Imran Khan and another message from Pakistani President Arif Alvi.

The Pakistani minister would also pass on a message from Alvi to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

According to the spokesman of Pakistan’s Railways Ministry, Rasheed will hold meetings with the officials of Iranian organizations to discuss cooperation in the railroad industry.

He is also going to attend the inauguration of Rasht-Qazvin railroad track on Wednesday.

In 2016, Iran and Pakistan signed six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas during a visit to Islamabad by Rouhani.

In May 2016, Pakistan’s commerce minister said Islamabad is deeply interested in laying modern rail tracks and renovating existing routes for direct and transit trade with Iran and Afghanistan.
