Oman More Efficient than Iran, Beach Soccer Coach Octavio Says
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran beach soccer coach Marco Octavio says they played better than Oman but their opponent was more efficient.
Iran lost to Oman 4-3 in Group D of the AFC Beach Soccer Championship Thailand 2019 on Tuesday.
The result means Oman will face Bahrain in Thursday's quarter-finals, while Iran is set for blockbuster, win-or-go-home clash against FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup regular Japan.
"It was like a final. It was two teams with very good technical conditions and I would like to give big congratulations to Oman. They deserved to win,” Octavio said.
“The people who came to watch the match, saw a very beautiful show of beach soccer. If we were watching this from the perspective of a scout, and judging things like possession and ball control, we would say Iran was the superior team, but Oman were more efficient,” the Brazilian added.
“I have to congratulate them for a beautiful performance. We are still alive in the competition and we will do our best to keep on and qualify," Octavio concluded.
