Border Guards Clash with Armed Bandits in Western Iran: Commander
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian border guards clashed with armed bandits in the western province of Kordestan, preventing them from entering the country and conducting “acts of sabotage”, the commander of the province’s border police announced.
Speaking to Tasnim on Monday, Brigadier General Kiumars Sheikhi said around 9 p.m. last night, the forces of the Baneh Border Regiment who were patrolling the area clashed with the armed bandits near the border village of Sarab.
The provincial commander added that the gunmen had planned to enter the country and conduct acts of sabotage.
Unfortunately, a non-commissioned officer was martyred during the clashes, he said.
Noting that the armed bandits are at large, General Sheikhi said the border police have found some clues about their hideouts.
