Iraqi Premier in Iran for Official Visit

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi arrived in Iran on Saturday for an official visit.

Heading a high-ranking diplomatic, economic and military delegation, the Iraqi premier has traveled to Tehran at the official invitation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

The Iraqi leader was welcomed by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at Tehran’s Mehrabad airport.

Abdul-Mahdi is accompanied by a number of Iraqi cabinet ministers, top military officials and parliament members in the landmark visit.

It comes less than a month after Rouhani paid a visit to Iraq with a big political and business delegation and signed several agreements with the neighboring nation.

It was Rouhani’s first official visit to Iraq during his tenure.
