Palestinian Groups, Iraq’s Hezbollah Voice Support for Iran’s IRGC

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Palestinian groups of Hamas and Islamic Jihad Movement as well as Iraq’s Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba strongly condemned a recent decision by the US administration to label the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as “a terrorist group”.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the secretary general of the Islamic Jihad Movement said the group sides with Iran and is completely ready for any possible scenario.

Hamas, in a separate statement, strongly decried the US move to blacklist the IRGC and said the decision proves that the US government only acts in line with the interests of the Zionist regime of Israel and its plans and will continue to do so blindly.

Hamas also stated that recent US decisions and actions regarding Quds (Jerusalem), Golan and the IRGC are all in the same direction and pursue one goal.

In another statement, the Iraqi group of Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba strongly condemned the US move and voiced its strong support for the Islamic Republic.

The Trump administration on Monday labeled IRGC as a “terrorist group” at the behest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israelis headed to the polls on Tuesday to elect the 120 members of the 21st Knesset (parliament). On the eve of the vote, Netanyahu took credit for Trump’s decision to blacklist IRGC.

“Thank you, my dear friend, President Donald Trump,” Netanyahu tweeted in Hebrew, “for answering another one of my important requests.”

On Monday, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in turn, designated US forces in West Asia, known as the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), as a terrorist organization.
