Iran's Hadipour Wins Bronze at World Taekwondo Championships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Armin Hadipour claimed a bronze medal at the Manchester 2019 World Taekwondo Championships on Thursday.
The Iranian taekwondo fighter started the campaign with a 20-9 win over Nigerian Maharana Amadou in the men’s -54kg.
Hadipour then defeated Moldavian Vadim Dimitrov 24-1 and beat Thailand’s Ramnarong Sawekwiharee 26-6 in the quarterfinals.
The Iranian representative lost to Russian Georgy Popov 20-14 in the semifinals and claimed a bronze medal.
A record 927 athletes from 145 countries plus 1 refugee team are registered to compete at this year’s Championships making it the largest by numbers in the sport’s history.
