Iranian Cleric Urges Tax Reform to Stimulate Investment
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The provisional Friday prayers leader of Tehran called on the Iranian government to attract investment and boost local production by introducing tax incentives and devising plans to contain tax evasion.
Addressing worshippers on Friday, Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani described the growth of production as the key to success in dealing with foreign-imposed pressures.
He also urged Iranian investors to make investment inside the country, and called on the administration and Parliament to ease cumbersome procedures and support local businesses to boost production and create more jobs.
The cleric further called for tax incentives wherever it is necessary for the production to boom, saying wrong taxes that result in the closure of businesses must be cut.
Ayatollah Emami Kashani also urged the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, Parliament and Judiciary to formulate proper plans for tax reform and prevention of tax evasion.
In remarks in April 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei highlighted the need for supporting Iranian producers and businesses to deal with the enemy’s economic war, calling on all Iranian officials and people to purchase homemade products and support the local market.
The Iranian administration has the duty to support Iranian-made products and remove the banking, insurance and tax obstacles, Ayatollah Khamenei said, explaining that support for Iranian manufactures will reduce unemployment and prevent many other social and security consequences.
