Road to Diplomacy Ruined by US: Iran’s Spokesman
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi denounced the latest US sanctions against Iran, saying the hostile measure has ruined the path to diplomacy forever.
In a post on his Twitter account on Monday, Mousavi said, “The (imposition of) futile US sanctions against Iran’s Leader and the commander of Iran’s diplomacy (Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif) means the permanent closure of the path to diplomacy with the desperate US administration.”
“The (US President Donald) Trump administration is violating all established international mechanisms for maintaining global peace and security,” he added.
His comments came after Trump announced new sanctions against top Iranian officials, including the office of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Iran’s foreign minister, and senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
The US had already blacklisted the entire IRGC.
