IRGC Clashes with Terrorists in Iran Border Region, 2 Servicemen Martyred
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Two members of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force were martyred in the exchange of fire with a team of terrorists in northwestern Iran.
The public relations department of the IRGC’s Hamze Sayyid al-Shohada Base said in a statement that its forces clashed with an anti-Revolution team of terrorists affiliated with the “global arrogance” who had plans to infiltrate into the country from Chaldoran region in the border province of West Azarbaijan on Tuesday morning.
The IRGC troops smashed the intruding team after killing two terrorists and injuring a number of others, the statement noted, adding that two local forces of the IRGC were also martyred in the operation.
A considerable amount of weapons, communication equipment and ammunition has been seized from the terrorists, it added.
In July 2018, anti-revolutionary terrorists attacked a border post of the IRGC Ground Force’s Hamzeh Seyed al-Shohada Base in Iran’s western province of Kurdistan, killing 11 forces of the base.
The IRGC is tasked with protecting the country’s northwestern and southeastern borders.
