Iran’s Jafari Snatches Bronze at World Para Powerlifting Championships


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Amir Jafari of Iran won a bronze medal on day three of the World Para Powerlifting Championships in Kazakhstan’s capital Nur-Sultan.

In the men’s up to 65kg, Malaysia’s Bonnie Bunyau Gustin came on top with a junior world record-breaking lift of 207kg.

Algeria’s Hocine Bettir was a distant runner-up with 194kg, bettering third-placed Jafari of Iran by 1kg.

The 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championship is being held with the participation of more than 450 athletes from 79 countries and will end on July 20.
