Iranian President Congratulates Kyrgyzstan on National Day


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered his congratulations to the Kyrgyz people and government on the anniversary of the Central Asian country’s independence.

In a message to Kyrgyzstan President Sooronbay Jeenbekov released on Saturday night, Rouhani congratulated the 28th anniversary of the country’s independence and expressed hope that Tehran-Bishkek relations would continue to expand in all political, economic and cultural areas.

The Iranian president also wished Jeenbekov health and success and the people of Kyrgyzstan prosperity and glory.

August 31, 1991 is the day when Kyrgyzstan got independent from the Soviet Union. The Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz Republic adopted a Declaration of Independence of Kyrgyzstan, 26 years ago.

The document was inked by Chairman of the Supreme Council Medetkan Sherimkulov. The document gave a start for the history of sovereign Kyrgyz state.
