Iran Adds two Bronze Medals to Tally at World Wrestling Championships


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran claimed two more bronze medals at the 2019 World Wrestling Championships in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan on Tuesday.

At the 60kg class, Japanese Kenichiro Fumita claimed a gold medal after defeating Sergey Emelin from Russia 10-5 in the final bout.

Iran’s Alireza Nejati and Mirambek Ainagulov from Kazakhstan had to settle for the bronze medal.

At the 77kg class, Tamas Lorincz from Hungary defeated his Swedish rival Alex Bjurberg Kessidis 8-0 in the final.

Mohammad Ali Geraei from Iran and Uzbekistan’s Jalgasbay Berdimuratov jointly won the bronze medal.

On the first day of the competition, Saeid Abdevali won a bronze medal in the 82kg class after seeing off Iurii Shkriuba of Ukraine 7-0.

Nur-Sultan is hosting the 2019 World Wrestling Championships from September 14 to 22.
