Venezuela's Diplomat Ignores Trump during UN Speech (+Video)
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The diplomat from Venezuela sat calmly reading a book rather than listening to US President Donald Trump’s hateful speech during his annual UNGA address on Tuesday.
The US has cut ties with the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro after Washington attempted to oust the government in Caracas via political and economic pressure as part of Trump's self-styled "maximum pressure" strategy that he vowed would continue during Tuesday's speech.
According to Newsweek, Representative Daniela Rodríguez appeared to ignore the Trump’s appeal as he was saying, "to the Venezuelans trapped in this nightmare, please know that all of America is united behind you,” instead, she was seen reading a book about Venezuelan revolutionary Simón Bolívar, considered the father of the ruling United Socialist Party's ideology.
