Yemenis Overwhelmed with Joy amid Victories against Saudi-Led Forces (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Yemeni people expressed their joy after recent victories of army troops and allied fighters from Popular Committees against the Saudi forces.

A footage was published by Yemeni Al-Masirah TV showing people in the market expressing their joy by showing each other the videos of recent victories of army troops and allied fighters from Popular Committees against the forces of Saudi-led coalition in the southern regions of the kingdom.

While they were gathering in public places to enjoy watching the news of the victories and the huge number of enemy prisoners that were arrested by the army, they also shed tears of happiness and shouted Allah-o-Akbar (Allah is Greater), al-mawt al-Amrīkā (Death to America), al-Mawt al-Isrāīl (Death to Israel) as well as the an-Naṣr ol-Islām (Victory belongs to Islam).

Three Saudi military bases and over 150 square kilometers of land were taken during the second phase of a recent military offensive carried out by Yemeni army troops and allied fighters from Popular Committees in the kingdom’s southern border region of Najran, according to spokesman for Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of Hadi back to power and crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement.

The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the war has claimed more than 91,000 lives over the past four and a half years.

The war has also taken a heavy toll on the country’s infrastructure, destroying hospitals, schools, and factories. The UN says over 24 million Yemenis are in dire need of humanitarian aid, including 10 million suffering from extreme levels of hunger.
