Iran Beats Mexico in Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup Opener
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran defeated Mexico 7-4 in the opening match of the Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup Dubai Tuesday night.
Mohammad Ahmadzadeh (two goals), Amir Hossein Akbari (two goals), Mohammad Mokhtari (two goals) and Mohammad Masoumizadeh scored for Team Melli.
The Persians will meet Egypt on Wednesday.
Russia also defeated Egypt 5-3 in Group B.
In Group A, the UAE lost to Spain. The host went down 2-1 in a penalty shootout after finishing on 2-2 at the end of regulation time.
Japan defeated Italy 6-4.
The 2019 Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup is the eighth edition of the Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup, an annual international beach soccer tournament contested by men's national teams.
The competition is being held in Dubai, the UAE between 5 and 9 November.
