Syria Air Defense Intercepts Israeli Missiles over Damascus Outskirts (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian air defense intercepted and destroyed several Israeli missiles coming from Lebanon and the occupied Golan Heights over Damascus surroundings, state media said.

“At 1.20 am, Israeli military warplanes fired several missiles from over both the Occupied Golan and Marj al-Eyoun in Lebanon targeting the outskirts of Damascus. And Immediately our air defense systems thwarted the attack, intercepted the hostile missiles and downed most of them before they reached their targets,” Syria's official SANA news agency said on Tuesday night, quoting an unnamed military source.

Two of the missiles separately destroyed two "residential buildings” in the towns of Saasa and Qudsaya, killing two civilians and injuring several others, the source added.

The Israeli regime has acknowledged repeatedly striking positions inside Syria in recent years, and some of such attacks have been carried out from Lebanese airspace.

Such aggressive moves are usually viewed as attempts to prop up terrorist groups suffering defeats at the hands of Syrian forces.
