Marc Wilmots Fires Back at Iran Football Federation
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national football team head coach Marc Wilmots fired back at Iran football federation, saying it has created an intolerable situation for him.
The football federation is reportedly reluctant to continue cooperation with the Belgian coach after Team Melli’s poor results in the Qatar 2022 World Cup Asian qualifiers, where the Persians sit third in Group C behind Iraq and Bahrain.
Iran media reported on Sunday a delegation would travel to Zagreb to negotiate with Ex-Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic to take charge of Team Melli.
Wilmots has posted two messages on his Twitter account in response to the recent development.
“I have taken note of the rumors published in the Iranian press, which are not correct. The truth is that we face an intolerable situation in the team and the federation has created serious contractual violations for me and my staff. My lawyers are working on the case and I don't want to comment more,” Wilmots wrote on Twitter.
