Iranians Thwarted Enemy’s Very Dangerous Conspiracy, Says Ayatollah Khamenei
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei praised nationwide rallies held over the past week in support of Iran’s Islamic Establishment and said the people managed to thwart “a very dangerous conspiracy” hatched by the enemy.
“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the great Iranian nation for their magnificent movement during recent days,” the Leader said, addressing a gathering of commanders and members of the Basij (Mobilization) Force held on the occasion of the National Week of Basij in Tehran on Wednesday.
“The people proved again that they are powerful and great, and defeated the big conspiracy of the enemy with their presence on the scene,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.
“The grave, extensive and very dangerous conspiracy that the Global Arrogance (the US) and Zionism spent so much on and worked for so that they could cause this destruction, villainy, and murder in Iran at a crucial time was quashed by the presence of the people,” the Leader stated.
“Police and security forces entered the scene and performed their duty, but what the nation did during this week was more important than any other measure,” Ayatollah Khamenei went on to say.
“The system of domination is against freedom,” the Leader said, adding, “The biggest freedom is a nation’s freedom and independence, which they are against.”
“They enter via colonialism, then via Neocolonialism, today using new methods, soft war, and if they can and find it necessary using military force without hesitation,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Following a hike in the price of gasoline earlier this month, a number of Iranian cities saw sporadic protests that turned violent in some cases. A number of banks and government buildings were set ablaze.
Meanwhile, anti-Iranian media outlets as well as some Western officials, including US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, voiced their support for the rioters who took advantage of the protests in a number of Iranian cities.
In an address on November 17, Ayatollah Khamenei warned that the sporadic protests and acts of vandalism in Iran would create insecurity.
Describing insecurity as the worst calamity for society, the Leader said that “all evil centers in the world” have mobilized efforts in recent days to encourage unrest in Iran.
Ayatollah Khamenei also called on the Iranian authorities to be careful that the rise in the price of fuel would not increase the price of other commodities.
The Leader also called on the people to separate themselves from a group of thugs who are encouraged by the foreign-based anti-Iranian front to foment insecurity.
