Iranian President, VP Congratulate Mauritania on National Day


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri, in separate messages on Thursday, offered their congratulations to the Mauritanian people and government on the African country’s national day.

In a message to Mauritania’s President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, Rouhani expressed hope for further expansion of the comprehensive relations between the two Islamic republics in bilateral, regional and international fields.

Rouhani also wished Ghazouani good health and success and the Mauritanian nation wellbeing and prosperity.

Jahangiri sent a message to Mauritanian Prime Minister Ismail Ould Bedde Ould Cheikh Sidiya and expressed hope that the close ties between Tehran and Nouakchott would serve the interests of both nations.

Expansion of relations with African nations in all political, economic and cultural fields is top on the agenda of Iran's foreign policy.

Rouhani has repeatedly stressed his government's interest in boosting relations with the African states.
