TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Tens of thousands of Iraqi people have taken to the streets of Baghdad on Saturday to pay their respects to Iranian commander, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

The funeral service for former Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force General Soleimani, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of the PMU is taking place in Baghdad on Saturday, one day after they were martyred in a US airstrike at Baghdad's international airport.

Soleimani's body is expected to be transported to Tehran where another funeral will take place on Sunday, January 5.
