Syrians in Lattakia Condemn US Assassination of Iran’s Gen. Soleimani (+Photos)


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A mass gathering was held in Lattakia in condemnation of US assassination of Iranian Lt. General Qassem Soleimani and his companions who had a great role in Syria’s fight on terrorism.

A large number of people gathered at al-Muhafaza Square in Syria’s northern Lattakia on Thursday afternoon to commemorate Iranian General Soleimani and his role in liberation of many Syrian cities and towns from Takfiri terrorist’s control and to condemn the US criminal aggression near Baghdad airport which led to the martyrdom of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani and Deputy Commander of Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and a number of their companions, SANA reported.

In a speech during the gathering in which popular and official figures participated, Chairman of Lattakia Awqaf “Islamic Endowments” Department Sheikh Mohammad Alio affirmed that this stand is a token of loyalty to the martyrs whose sacrifices have significantly contributed to defeating the Zionist-US project in the region and to eliminating the terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq.

Alio saluted the Syrian Arab Army and the countries of the resistance axis who have sacrificed to achieve such a victory.

Father George Hosh, a senior Christian priest in the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Lattakia, stressed that the resistance work has no geographical boundaries and that the blood of the martyrs sprouted many of the resistance fighters who will complete the path until achieving complete victory.

Participants in the gathering asserted that the resistance work has no geographical borders and the men of resistance will continue that road until achieving the permanent victory.

They added that martyr Lt. General Qassem Soleimani and his companions have struggled and contributed to foiling the US hegemony in the region.

The strongly condemned the criminal act of assassinating the elite men of resistance as the violation of all the international laws, adding that this crime will entail a response that would lead to ending the US presence in the region.

They noted that this crime was an attempt to revive the morals of the defeated terrorist organizations, affirming the necessity to continue the war on terrorism until their total elimination.
