Flooding Prompts Road, School Closures in SE Iran (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Flash floods in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan have inflicted damages to more than 20,000 residential buildings, a provincial official said.

Heavy rains in southern areas of the province triggered the sudden flooding, Abbasali Arjmandi, director-general of Sistan and Balouchestan Crisis Management Center told Tasnim on Sunday.

He added that at least 20,000 residential buildings and villages have sustained damage.

The flash floods have also blocked rural roads leading to more than 500 villages and closed schools, Arjmandi said, adding that six villages have been evacuated so far.
