US ‘Deal of Century’ Outcome of Divisions among Muslim Countries: Iran’s Larijani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani highlighted the reasons behind the US government’s move to develop its so-called deal of the century plan and said the “fake” plan is the outcome of divisions among Muslim countries.

“The US has prepared a larger plot for Muslims to humiliate all of them through the fake plan of (the deal of) the century,” Larijani said, addressing an open session of the parliament on Tuesday.

“The (US) boldness is the result of the divisions among Islamic countries that allowed the Zionist regime and the US to make criminal moves,” he said, adding that they, however, will soon suffer from the consequences of these behaviors.

The recent mass protests in Iraq against the US military presence in the Arab country were among the consequences, the speaker went on to say.

The deal of century ploy, fronted by US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, has already been rejected by the Palestinians, who say the White House's policies have been blatantly biased in favor of Israel.

Palestinians have cut off all contacts with the Trump administration since the US president broke with decades of bipartisan policy to recognize al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel in December 2017.

Iraqi people from all walks of life took to the streets in the capital, Baghdad, on Friday for a million-man rally to call for an end to the military presence of the United States in their country.

The rally was called by senior Iraqi resistance figures, a few weeks after the parliament voted to expel American troops following an illegal US airstrike in Baghdad that led to the assassination of Iranian IRGC Quds Force Commander Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani and the Deputy Commander of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
