Syria Military: 600 Square km of Lands in Idlib, Aleppo Liberated

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian forces have so far managed to liberate 600 square kilometers of the Arab country’s territory as their fight against terrorists in Idlib and Aleppo continues, the Syrian Armed Forces General Command announced Sunday.

The Syrian Armed Forces have gained major gains against terrorists in Idlib and Aleppo and recaptured many areas, the General Command said in a statement.

The statement further said so far some 600 square kilometers of the Arab country’s territory has been liberated from the clutches of the terror group since August, according to SANA news agency.

The liberated areas include Khan al-Sabil, Kafer Battikh, Joubas, al-Nairab, Tal Mardikh, Kafer amim, Afes, Saraqeb, Tal al-Tabariz, Maharim, Ebla University, Rasem al-Ess, al-Sheikh Ahmad, Zamar, Houir al-Ess, Tal Bajer, Rasem al-Sahrij, Tal Touqan, Jazraya, Khan Touman, Khalsa, al-Qarasi, Zitan, al-Sheikh Idris, al-Rayan, Louf, and al-Ess, it said.

The Syrian army declared the start of an offensive against foreign-sponsored militants in Idlib on August 5 last year.

It came after those positioned in the de-escalation zone failed to honor a ceasefire brokered by Russia and Turkey and continued to target civilian neighborhoods.

Under the Sochi agreement, all militants in the demilitarized zone that surrounds Idlib, and also parts of the provinces of Aleppo and west-central province of Hama, were supposed to pull out heavy arms by October 17 2018, with the Takfiri groups having to withdraw two days earlier.
