Global, Regional Cooperation to Battle Coronavirus Imperative: Iran’s Zarif


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif highlighted the country’s close cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) to combat the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 and said global and regional cooperation is imperative in this regard.

“We're closely engaged w/ @WHO to battle #COVID19  in Iran & ensure proper care for those infected,” Zarif wrote on his Twitter account on Friday.

“Strict preventive measures—including screening of air travelers at departure gates—are being implemented,” he wrote, posting a video about the screening of the travelers.

“Global & regional coop imperative,” Zarif said, adding, “We either win together or lose together.”

Iran’s administration on Thursday extended the closure of all schools and universities nationwide until the end of the current Iranian year (March 19) as the country is struggling with the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

The Health Ministry announced on Thursday that the number of people who have died from the coronavirus in the country has risen to 107 and the total number of confirmed cases to 3,513, including 1,352 patients in the province of Tehran alone.
