Iranian, Turkish Parliament Speakers Discuss Coronavirus Battle


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The speakers of the Iranian and Turkish parliaments discussed ways for joint action between the two neighbors in the fight against the novel coronavirus.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Sentop held a telephone conversation on Thursday.

The Turkish official wished Larijani a full recovery following his infection with COVID-19.

Sentop also wished the Iranian nation health and success, expressing hope that concerted efforts would help overcome the coronavirus crisis.

The two speakers also weighed plans for the promotion of cooperation and joint measures between Tehran and Ankara to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

In Iran, COVID-19 has infected more than 66,000 and killed 4,110 people as of Thursday.

In Turkey, the number of people tested positive for coronavirus has exceeded 38,200 and the death toll has reached 812.
