Two Killed, Another Seriously Injured in New York City Shooting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Two men were killed, a third was in critical condition and a fourth — the gunman — was being sought after a shooting in East Harlem, Manhattan, New York City, on Saturday night, police said.

The gunman opened fire at 7:48 p.m. East 112th Street and First Avenue, across from the Thomas Jefferson Houses, according to cops.

Surveillance footage from the scene shows the shooter firing several rounds in the midst of a group of people congregating at the corner.

He then fled.

Witnesses said they heard anywhere from four to six gunshots.

“The cops came fast. I’ve never seen a body like that that was shot in the head,” said a neighbor who gave her name as “Jane M”, the New York Post reported.

“Honestly, we have enough to worry about with COVID-19. We don’t need this right now,” she added.

Ali, a worker at a nearby deli, said he heard the shots ring out from his post.

“I didn’t go outside. I was too scared,” he said. “It’s crazy, man. People should be helping each other.”

The slaying was the first of at least two fatal shootings in New York City Saturday night.

A few minutes later, around 8 p.m., a 31-year-old man was shot in the head near the corner of Buffalo Avenue and Sterling Place in Crown Heights, police said.

The victim was transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.
