Iran, Uzbekistan Discuss Ties, Coronavirus Fight

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed ways to enhance the bilateral ties and cooperation amid the global fight against the COVID-19 crisis.

During a phone conversation on Wednesday, the two presidents exchanged views about ways to boost the bilateral relations between Iran and Uzbekistan in various fields, including politics, economy, trade, transportation, and communications.

They also stressed the importance of cooperation between Tehran and Tashkent in the fight against the novel coronavirus and agreed to share their experiences with each other in coping with the viral disease.

In later April, the crisis response committee of Uzbekistan allowed Iranian trucks to travel in the country for road transport provided that they fully observe the health regulations.

Iran, one of the Middle Eastern countries hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic, has been doing its best to curb the deadly virus despite the hardships caused by the US sanctions.
