Coronavirus Updates in Iran: Over 123,000 Patients Recover


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Iran has exceeded 157,000, of whom more than 123,000 have recovered from the disease, the Health Ministry’s spokesman said.

Kianoosh Jahanpoor said at a press conference on Tuesday that the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country has risen to 157,562 following the detection of 3,117 new cases since yesterday.

He noted that 123,077 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far and have been discharged from the hospital.

According to Jahanpoor, the coronavirus death toll in Iran now stands at 7,942 following the deaths of 64 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in the hospital at present, 2,565 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, he said.

He also noted that 975,936 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

More than 6,389,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 globally, and the death toll has exceeded 377,000.
