Iran Coronavirus Cases Top 180,000


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry spokeswoman said the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has exceeded 180,000.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Sima Sadat Lari said 2,238 people have tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran over the past 24 hours.

That brings the total number of coronavirus cases to 180,156, she said.

The spokeswoman put the death toll from the disease at 8,584, saying that COVID-19 has taken the lives of 78 patients since Wednesday noon.

Fortunately, Lari said, 142,663 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease and left the hospital thus far.

She also noted that more than 1,173,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

COVID-19 has infected nearly 7.5 million people worldwide and more than 419,000 patients have died from the disease.
