Yemeni Drones Hit Saudi Military Site in Asir
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A squadron of Yemeni drones carried out a drone strike against Saudi military targets in Asir, southwest of Saudi Arabia, the spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces said.
Five Qasef-2K drones were used to conduct the operation, Brigadier General Yahya Saree said on Tuesday.
"By the grace and generosity of God, our air force carried out a massive operation on fighter jets' hangars, armories and sensitive military targets in Khamis Mushait," on Monday night, Saree said in a statement.
The official explained that the retaliatory operation came in response to the latest military escalation by Saudi Arabia and its continuous massacre of the Yemeni people.
Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched the devastating war on Yemen in March 2015 in order to bring former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power and crush the Houthi Ansarullah movement.
The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the war has claimed more than 100,000 lives over the past five years.
