Iran Reports 2,457 New COVID-19 Cases


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry reported 2,457 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing the number of cases to more than 227,000.

Speaking at a daily press conference, Health Ministry spokeswoman, Sima Sadat Lari said the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country has risen to 227,662 following the detection of 2,457 new cases since Monday noon.

She added that 147 coronavirus patients have died over the past 24 hours, which brings the total death toll to 10,817.

According to the spokeswoman, 188,758 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far and have been discharged from hospitals.

Lari also noted that more than 1,666,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has exceeded 10.4 million , and the death toll has surpassed 508,000.
