Coronavirus Death Toll in Iran Exceeds 13,400
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The death toll from COVID-19 in Iran surpassed 13,400 on Wednesday, while more than 227,000 positive cases have recovered from the disease.
Speaking at a daily press conference on Wednesday, Iran’s Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said the coronavirus has taken the lives of 199 patients during the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 13,410.
The total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has risen to 264,561 following the detection of 2,388 new cases since yesterday, she added.
Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 1,775 patients have been admitted to medical centers, the spokeswoman said.
At least 227,561 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, she said.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,411 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
The spokeswoman also said more than 2,048,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has exceeded 13.4 million, and the death toll has surpassed 581,000.
