Over 247,000 Patients Recover from Coronavirus in Iran


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus positive cases who have recovered from the viral disease in Iran has surpassed 247,000, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Speaking at a daily press conference on Thursday, Sima Sadat Lari put the death toll from the coronavirus in the country at 15,074, saying the disease has taken the lives of 221 patients over the past 24 hours.

She also noted that at least 247,230 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has risen to 284,034 following the detection of 2,612 new cases since Wednesday noon, the spokeswoman added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,667 patients have critical health conditions, Lari noted.

She went on to say that more than 2,254,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 15.4 million and the death toll has exceeded 630,000.
