Iran Records 226 Coronavirus Deaths in One Day


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Health Ministry’s spokeswoman on Thursday put the daily death toll from the coronavirus in the country at 226.

Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Iran has reached 16,569 after the disease took the lives of 226 patients over the past 24 hours.

She added that 2,621 new cases have tested positive for the coronavirus since yesterday, bringing the total number of cases to 301,530.

According to the spokesperson, 261,200 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection or have been discharged from hospitals so far.

More than 2.4 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far, she went on to say.

COVID-19 has infected over 17.2 million people around the world. The global death toll from the pandemic is now more than 670,000.
