Iran’s Top General Urges Concerted Action against COVID-19
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – In a congratulatory message for his Muslim counterparts on the Islamic festival of Eid al-Adha, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri called for collective cooperation in tackling the coronavirus pandemic.
The top Iranian commander sent separate messages to the heads of armed forces of the Islamic countries on Thursday, offering warm wishes on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
The Iranian general also described the Hajj season as the manifestation of the Islamic community’s unity, rapport, and solidarity, saying it provides an opportunity to realize the Islamic world’s predicaments.
In the current situation when the human societies are engulfed by the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, it is necessary for the countries and governments to work in cooperation and take constrictive and effective measures to contain the disease, Major General Baqeri underlined.
In remarks in May, the top commander had expressed the Iranian Armed Forces’ readiness to share their experiences in the fight against the novel coronavirus with friendly countries across the region.
He had also warned that a failure to cope with the virus in a correct and scientific manner could increase the spread of the disease and threaten the health of nations.
