Coronavirus Updates in Iran: 189 Patients Die in 24 Hours


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry spokeswoman confirmed 2,132 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the country, raising the total number of infections to 328,844.

In a press briefing on Monday, Sima Sadat Lari said 189 patients have died of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, increasing the overall death toll to 18,616.

The spokeswoman said 286,642 patients have so far recovered from COVID-19, but 3,992 are still in critical conditions because of more severe infection.

Lari added that so far 2,711,817 COVID-19 tests have been taken across the country.

She also said more than 2,711,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 20 million and the death toll has exceeded 734,000.
