Muharram Mourning Rituals Held in Damascus under Health Protocols
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A mourning ceremony was held in the Zeynabiyeh District of Damascus to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala in the year 680 A.D.
Tens of people and officials participated in the ceremony on Thursday evening, observing healthcare protocols and social distancing rules due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Tasnim dispatches.
Ayatollah Abolfazl Tabatabaei, the representative of Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Syria, was also present in the event.
People across Muslim countries hold mourning rituals during the month of Muharram to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his loyal companions.
