Muharram Mourning Processions Held in Iran under COVID-19 Health Protocols (+Video)


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Mourning ceremonies were held across Iran to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala in the year 680 A.D.

Thousands of people participated in the ceremonies on Friday evening and Saturday, observing healthcare protocols and social distancing rules due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Shiite Muslims hold mourning rituals during the month of Muharram, the first month in the lunar Hijri calendar, to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his loyal companions.
