Zarif, Lavrov Discuss Nagorno-Karabakh War
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov discussed ways to help end the armed clashes between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.
Zarif and Lavrov held their second telephone conversation in recent days on Tuesday about the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, where fighting continues to flare between Baku and Yerevan.
The two senior diplomats discussed ways to end the fighting.
The military forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan have started a new round of clashes over the disputed region, marking the heaviest fighting between the two neighbors in years.
Iran has repeatedly asked the two neighbors to cease hostilities and hold negotiations to resolve the dispute peacefully.
